Honouring the Divine Within

Soul Café

Honoring the Divine Within

God has put something noble and good into every heart His hand created.
 -Mark Twain

“Namaste: I honor that divine space within you in which you and I are indistinguishable.”

“Om Namah Shivaya, meaning, I honor the divinity that resides within me.”- E. Gilbert

God doesn’t make junk. No one is a nobody!  Everyone is a somebody in our Heavenly Father’s Kingdom!  We are all daughters of God.”  --Ardeth Kapp

O SON OF BEING! With the hands of power I made thee and with the fingers of strength I created thee; and within thee have I placed the essence of My light. Be thou content with it and seek naught else, for My work is perfect and My command is binding. Question it not, nor have a doubt thereof. – Baha’i Writings

O SON OF UTTERANCE! Thou art My stronghold; enter therein that thou mayest abide in safety. My love is in thee, know it, that thou mayest find Me near unto thee. – Baha’i Writings

O SON OF BEING! Thou art My lamp and My light is in thee. Get thou from it thy radiance and seek none other than Me. For I have created thee rich and have bountifully shed My favour upon thee. – Baha’i Writings

He who thus vows
His soul to the Supreme Soul, quitting sin,
Passes unhindered to the endless bliss
Of unity with Brahma. He so vowed,
So blended, sees the Life-Soul resident
In all things living, and all living things
In that Life-Soul contained. And whoso thus
Discerneth Me in all, and all in Me,
I never let him go; nor looseneth he
Hold upon Me; but, dwell he where he may,
Whate'er his life, in Me he dwells and lives,
Because he knows and worships Me, Who dwell
In all which lives, and cleaves to Me in all."  -Bhagavad Gita

"He who experiences the unity of life sees his own Self in all beings, and all beings in his own Self, and looks on everything with an impartial eye."  - The Buddha

It is time for ALL men women and children to wake to the truth of their divine nature and live from that. When women remember their divinity, their sacredness, power and the blessing that they are, how will they treat themselves and from that others? When men recall their divine nature, the holiness that flows through them, would they then need others to follow them in order to feel worthy? And our precious children, when they are recognized for the unique individuations of spirit that they are, would we need for them to conform and fit in so that we as adults feel more comfortable? Would you as parents need for them to be your friends so that you felt secure, or would they be free? - Jenn Gillies

In India when we meet and part we often say “Namaste,”I honor the place in you where the entire universe resides,I honor the place in you of love, of light, of truth, of peace.I honor the place within you where if you are in that place in you and I am in that place in me, there is only one of us.Namaste. - Ram Das.

" Namaste is a Sanskrit blessing that roughly translates to I honor the divine within. When we speak this blessing, we are acknowledging that place within us and others that is divine, God-given, or OM. It is a place of boundless love, acceptance, and presence. It is the idea that we are all of one spirit. In this way, we connect on a deep level with ourselves and with others.  The Divine within me bows to the Divine within you"

There is something of divinity within each of you. You have such tremendous potential with that quality as a part of your inherited nature. Every one of you was endowed by your Father in Heaven with a tremendous capacity to do good in the world. Train your minds and your hands that you may be equipped to serve well in the society of which you are a part. Cultivate the art of being kind, of being thoughtful, of being helpful. Refine within you the quality of mercy which comes as a part of the divine attributes you have inherited. "Some of you may feel that you are not as attractive and beautiful and glamorous as you would like to be. Rise above any such feelings, cultivate the light you have within you, and it will shine through as a radiant expression that will be seen by others.  "You need never feel inferior. You need never feel that you were born without talents or without opportunities to give them expression.  Cultivate whatever talents you have, and they will grow and refine and become an expression of your true self appreciated by others.  "In summary, try a little harder to measure up to the divine within each of you"  - Ensign, May 1995

And how would we be if we were to live this way? To live as one spirit?  To honor the divine within?

O ye beloved of the Lord! Commit not that which defileth the limpid stream of love or destroyeth the sweet fragrance of friendship. By the righteousness of the Lord! Ye were created to show love one to another and not perversity and rancour. Take pride not in love for yourselves but in love for your fellow-creatures. Glory not in love for your country, but in love for all mankind. Let your eye be chaste, your hand faithful, your tongue truthful and your heart enlightened. Abase not the station of the learned in Baha and belittle not the rank of such rulers as administer justice amidst you. Set your reliance on the army of justice, put on the armour of wisdom, let your adorning be forgiveness and mercy and that which cheereth the hearts of the well-favoured of God.” – Baha’i Writings

O COMPANION OF MY THRONE!
Hear no evil, and see no evil, abase not thyself, neither sigh and weep. Speak no evil, that thou mayest not hear it spoken unto thee, and magnify not the faults of others that thine own faults may not appear great; and wish not the abasement of anyone, that thine own abasement be not exposed. Live then the days of thy life, that are less than a fleeting moment, with thy mind stainless, thy heart unsullied, thy thoughts pure, and thy nature sanctified, so that, free and content, thou mayest put away this mortal frame, and repair unto the mystic paradise and abide in the eternal kingdom for evermore.” – Baha’i Writings

"…..manifest complete love and affection toward all mankind. Do not exalt yourselves above others, but consider all as your equals, recognizing them as the servants of one God. Know that God is compassionate toward all; therefore, love all from the depths of your hearts, prefer all religionists before yourselves, be filled with love for every race, and be kind toward the people of all nationalities. Never speak disparagingly of others, but praise without distinction. Pollute not your tongues by speaking evil of another. Recognize your enemies as friends, and consider those who wish you evil as the wishers of good. You must not see evil as evil and then compromise with your opinion, for to treat in a smooth, kindly way one whom you consider evil or an enemy is hypocrisy, and this is not worthy or allowable. You must consider your enemies as your friends, look upon your evil-wishers as your well-wishers and treat them accordingly. Act in such a way that your heart may be free from hatred. Let not your heart be offended with anyone. If some one commits an error and wrong toward you, you must instantly forgive him. Do not complain of others. Refrain from reprimanding them, and if you wish to give admonition or advice, let it be offered in such a way that it will not burden the bearer. Turn all your thoughts toward bringing joy to hearts. Beware! Beware! lest ye offend any heart. Assist the world of humanity as much as possible. Be the source of consolation to every sad one, assist every weak one, be helpful to every indigent one, care for every sick one, be the cause of glorification to every lowly one, and shelter those who are overshadowed by fear." – Baha’i Writings
